North-Central and South-East Regions Deserves to Produce the Next President and Vice President - Speakers

Gov. Yahaya Bello and Gov. David Umahi

Speaker of Kogi State House of Assembly, Mathew Kolawole, has said that only two Geopolitical zones are supposed to produce the candidates that will take over from President Buhari and Vice President Yemi Osinbajo.

He made the statement when he led seven Kogi speakers to solicit the support of their counterparts in Ebonyi State on Monday.

Kolawole explained that the executive Governor of Kogi state, Yahaya Bello, is the best person to govern the nation after President Buhari.

Speaking of the reason why the North-Central and South-East regions should be allowed to govern the country, Kolawole said the two region are the most marginalised since 1999.

Torixus reports that the Kogi Speaker further explained that the combination of Bello as Nigeria's President and Governor Umahi as Vice President was all the country needed to structure the achievement of Buhari's regime.

Speaking in Ebonyi, he said, “Your people will benefit more. We in Kogi House have a robust relationship with the executive arm. For best functionality you need cordiality with other arms. Our governor is the youngest and doing well, including in the area of security. We have borders with nine states.

“We have passed a vote of confidence on him. We went further to look at the geopolitical zone in the country. We passed the resolution that our governor should be the first to contest the presidency in 2023."

Reacting to what Kogi state's Speaker said, the Speaker of Ebonyi State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Francis Nwifuru, slightly opposed saying that, if APC should zone the Presidential position to the South-East zone, Umahi should be supported to rule the country, while Bello can still be supported to be his vice.
