Soldier, Police officer arrested for armed robbery in Ondo

The active participation of a Nigerian police officer and a serving Nigeria Soldier in a robbery attack has been detailed as national embarrassment.

A New report reaching Torixus confirmed that the two law enforcement officers, David Friday (police man) and Mr. Innocent Victor (soldier) were apprehended by the Nigerian police at Ojadale junction in Idanre where they launched their unlawful activity and stole money and valuables of their victims.

The arrested soldier denied involving himself in the robbery attack, making claims that he wasn't caught at the scene of attack, but was apprehended for engaging himself in an illegal duty.

On Thursday, the Ondo state's commissioner of police, Bolaji Salami, confirmed the report, saying that the apprehended police officer was working with other officers at Olofin Police Station in Idanre local government area of the state. While the soldier was serving with the 32 Artillery Brigade, Nigeria Army, Owena Cantonment, Akure before his apprehension.

Report that was disclosed to Torixus unveiled that the suspects were heavily armed with many types of dangerous weapons and also, having items that were reportedly snatched from their victims. 

Salami further stated that the two suspects made confessional statements to the state's command after their arrest. He also said that the two "will soon be arraigned in court. Other victims came and identified them. When we are done with our investigation, we will charge them to court.”
