Truck Crushes Final Year Student Of DELSU, Two Others To Death In Abraka

On Tuesday, a final year student of Delta State University (DELSU), Abraka, and two other people were crushed to death by a truck conveying bags of cements.



Emmanuel Maduka, and two unnamed individuals were killed after the cement truck slide off the road while they were trying to avoid a Toyota car and a motorcycle along Police Station road in Abraka.

We learnt that apart from the deceased student, an Okada rider and a young woman were also killed by the cement truck. The identity of the two is yet to be known.
A friend to late Emmanuel named Mr. Mathew told INDEPENDENT that the deceased was admitted into the university in 2016 and that he gained admission through pre- degree. He said that the final year student was a first Class student with CGPA of 4. 7 in the Department of Economics.

He said that yesterday was his mother' s birthday. " Who will disclose this bad news to his mother now, " he said.
At the time of disclosing this information to the media, the body of Emmanuel was still trapped under the cement truck, as security operatives; vigilante groups, police operatives, Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) and eyewitnesses are making extremely efforts to shift the truck to recover the trapped bodies.
A source told reporters that the death toll is likely to increase because some people are still trapped by the cement truck. He said some were trapped by bags of cements
We were told that the Driver of the truck escaped after the accident happened. Eyewitness captured the truck boy and he was beaten and was later arrested by the police.
Confirming the incident to journalists, the Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Bright Edafe, said he was told of the accident but that his office is yet to receive an official report concerning the tragic development.
